Brooklyn is in surgery right now at Children's Hospital in Little Rock Arkansas. So much has happened so fast with this growth. We fasted on Sunday and then had planned to give her a blessing. At church a friend of mine and someone who I am very grateful to, told me that she had a friend in Little Rock who is an ENT at Children's. She told me she would send him an email of Brooklyns case and call him. We were very concerned since it was growing so fast. The blessing she was given and helped relax me tremendously. Everything started to fall into place. My friend, Kristin, sent the info to her friend and the dr told her to tell us to go to instant care right then and get her on antibiotic and a steroid (which the ENT wouldn't do 2 days earlier). He actually had read and reviewed her chart the day before so he was familiar with it and was planning to see her on tuesday (today). A couple hours later Kristin called me and said that Dr Hartzell had an opening Monday morning at 9 am if I could be there. He said that they could do surgery on Tuesday and we would be in the hospital for a couple nights.
I brought Brooky down on Monday morning and met with 2 doctors, Dr. Hartzell and Dr. Rietcher. They both explained to me that the correct term for this was lymphatic malformation. It is a birth defect in the lymph channel in her neck. Typically babies are born with this and a lump, so she is a rare case that had the lump show up later and the fact that it grew so fast. The Dr.'s here are very confident that everything will work out and that it is benign. There is a possibility that she will need additional things done since this goes all around in her neck. After surgery I will Update what they find.
We are told it could be a 2-3 hour surgery. Waiting is no fun!!!
