Snow Days

Last Thursday, December 5th, a huge cold front/storm came into our area.  It was the first time that the schools cancelled due to the weather forecast, but by 10am it was freezing rain and the kids would have been let out anyway.  So, we started our first snow day then and today, 7 days later we are still home from school.  The best thing is that when the school's are out, Lynar gets to "work from home".  We ended up getting at least 10 inches of snow last Thursday/Friday and the sun really didn't come out again until yesterday to start the melting process.  The roads are still a mess and everyone is going crazy ready to get out.  On Sunday, Church was changed from our normal 3 hour block of time to just 1 hour of sacrament meeting that was optional.  Each LDS building held 1 sacrament meeting for those that felt they could get out and be safe.  We decided to stay home since the roads were bad and if I were to go and we slid off the road I couldn't risk an accident or air bag hitting my belly.  (My belly is pretty big).
I have loved this time being home with the family.  We got a lot of projects done and cleaning done that I couldn't do on my own.  We have slept in every day which has been heavenly and no rush to do anything or even shopping!  We have watched movies almost every night as a family and the kids have had fun playing in the snow!  It's been great!

Joseph didn't like the cold at first, but now he can't wait to go outside and play in the snow every day.  We have a small hill behind our house that I am able to watch the kids sled through my bedroom window while I stay warm!  I have no winter clothes for that cold of weather that will fit me right now.
This picture is of Brooklyn and Joseph who are 3 and 5 sledding out there by themselves!  It was great watching them have such a great time!

Our friends the Larson's came over one afternoon and joined in the sledding fun with the kids.

Brooklyn being her silly old self and with tissues trying to look like Santa.

This is a main road 6 days after the storm started.  That is how bad the roads were taken care of.  Many icy spots.  I had a dr appt and Lynar took me since he was "working from home".

This was the first night that it started snowing and Katelyn was in heaven.  It was very powdery at first.
