Ear Infection #4

This week I feel like I probably could have gotten worst mother of the year award with Joseph.  Poor kid has not been sleeping good the past couple of weeks, since we went out of town over the new year.  He is also teething, his top gums are very swollen and you can almost see the teeth.  Wednesday night he started running a little fever, gave him some tylenol and it came down.  Thursday his fever went back up again and I thought that I would watch how high it got and wait to give him tylenol if it got over 101.  Well, it never did and I kept debating on whether to take him in to see if it was his ears (he only pulled at his ears once), or wait it out cause it could be just teething.  You'd think with the 4th kid I could tell the difference.  I have an otoscope, but couldn't find it, so I called a friend of mine and went over and borrowed hers.  One ear looked a little dark pink and the other looked like it had white stringy stuff in it.  It's always hard to see in little babies ears though.  I called the doctors office and thankfully they asked me how soon I could get there to get him in that day.  It was 3:55pm.  I love having a great doctor's office that will get you in!

So we were there by 4:10 and they got us right in (they were about to close up for the day).  The nurse took his temp and it was 103!  Yikes!  Sorry!  The nurse looked at me like I was some terrible mother to let it get that high (she was trying to be somewhat nice).  Then, she was concerned because how calm Joseph was.  I kept telling her that he is a calm natured baby most of the time and this wasn't unusual.  Then, the doctor came in and took one look at his left year and went "woah, that's infected".  It was a pretty fast glance.  The other ear was just a little red.  His fever did not break until Saturday morning (I was giving him tylenol until then and it kept coming back).  Yep, this is ear infection number 4 since the beginning of November.  He was sleeping through the night until all these ear infections started up.  Darn ear infections.  I feel like he is a new born waking up so much again.

OK, so the best part about taking him in is seeing how big he is getting.  Here is his recent stats!
22 lbs. 9 oz.
28 1/2 inches long
Size 12mo clothes are starting to get a little snug with him (remember he is only 7 months old)
