Weddings.......

Lynar was invited to a wedding of a friend that he went to school with. Of course it is not the first thing that he wanted to do, but then as we realized that he could count it as a "date" with me and that there was going to be dinner afterward, he jumped at the chance of going. Food usually works for all men. Anyway, we are used to going to LDS weddings and have only been to one other non-LDS wedding. For those of you reading this who are not LDS, you have got to realize that they are a little different. Receptions that is and the wedding breakfast is normally for only family and really close friends. The wedding ceremony itself if usually in a Temple with only adult active members of our church going to that portion.
I just have to laugh because when we first arrived they asked us "Bride or Groom?" Since Lynar actually knew both of them he was a little confused. Then they escorted me to the Bride side and Lynar followed. Once seated, he leaned over and asked.. "I didn't know they had sides...is this a new idea?" I just laughed and asked if he'd ever payed attention to the movies?
The ceremony was short and to the point which was good because the pastor was hard to understand given his Southern Drawl and his slurred speech and the PA system in the church. The church was very beautiful though. It felt that we were outside because there were so many windows and they were very clean, but it was airconditioned! Later at the reception/dinner right after they cut the cake we went up to the table to get some cake and they had a chocolate basketball shaped cake and Lynar just had to ask what that was for!!! I told him that was the grooms cake and he couldn't believe it! Is this a new thing he asked again. I just kept laughing. I asked him if he remembered the movie "Steal magnolia" the armidillo grooms cake. He felt gypped that he didn't get a "grooms cake" at our wedding 9 1/2 years ago. He claims he had never heard of the grooms cake before. On the way home he made the comment..."They sure are young getting married".... I had to remind him that they probably are a lot older than we were when we got married since they were both in the Masters Degree program with him last year! Boy we are starting to feel old! Lynar keeps referring to us being in our 30's--to which I remind him that I still have more than a year before I turn 30---ok---a year tomorrow! he is struggling being 32---it makes him feel old!!!

We had a great time on our "date" and I think that my husband was a little more educated when we got home!!! We just kept laughing at how he had never payed attention to wedding stuff in the movies....

LOL! How funny. I'm sure Bradley would've been the same way. That church is very pretty!
