I love April Fools Day and my kids are starting to look forward to it as well. Lyndee anticipates what will be in her lunch box on April Fools Day. This year I had tons of easter eggs and so I put a few pieces of cereal in each easter egg. In order for her to eat, she had to open all the easter eggs and then put them in a bowl (I sent her some milk). She also got some jelly beans in the mix.
I also arranged to put up a For Sale sign in our front yard. This was mainly for Lynar, but when Lyndee got home from school and walked in the door she was mad and bawling. She stormed up the stairs yelling, "I don't want to move!" She was not happy that I had put the house up for sale without her knowing. After a good 10 minutes of being very upset she yelled down the stairs that if this was an April Fools joke that it was really mean and the worst one yet! (that is what the point is, isn't it?)
When Lynar got home from work he didn't even notice the sign. (surprise, surprise) I finally had to mention something like, do you think the lawn needs to be mowed? He looked outside in the front yard and said, "you put the house up for sale? How much are you asking?" Why, you want to buy it? Come on, give me a bigger reaction than that! I told him and he didn't mind. Totally not the reaction I was looking for. I didn't tell him it was a joke until later that night. He was totally fine with it. At this point he had been against selling the house and I kept talking about it. I thought he would be mad or give me some reaction.
