Visit from IKE!! Close call!

Hurricane Ike turned into a tropical storm and headed right up to Northwest Arkansas. It hit around 1 am on the 14th---how in the world do I know the right time?? Seems like I am always up with Brooklyn during the night. The winds were so loud that I had a hard time going to sleep for awhile. I am glad that our winds didn't get up to 110 mph--that would have been awful. In the morning this is how we found things. The leaves all over the van seemed cool--but look at the next pictures.
We've had this basketball hoop up for two years and its been through a lot of storms, but for some reason it didn't stay up during this storm. As you can tell it was very close to the truck. Lynar parked in the right spot! The backboard did hit the hood a little--looked like it just skiffed the top--should be able to buff out those spots.
Had the truck been parked 6 inches up I think we would have had some real damage done. Lynar usually parks closer up, but we have not been able to park in our garage and so the van is out and so he's been parking back. He still didn't park very far up and left a lot of room between the two vehicles. We were very lucky. As I watched the winds I was surprised we did not lose any trees. Trees around the neighborhood and down the street were uprooted and branches broken. We had no power outages either thankgoodness!

I'm glad y'all were okay! So much media coverage of Texas, but not a whole lot about other states affected by the storm.

Wow! Since we've moved to Colorado I haven't worried much about the storms. In Georgia, on the other hand, we got lots of rain, but never wind like that. I'm glad all was okay!

Our power was out from about 2am to 8am. We couldn't sleep for all the wind too!

Woah, close call. Glad Lynar parked farther away and that the truck wasn't damaged.
