5K with the "Sole Sisters"

On Labor Day, about 28 ladies "sole sisters" from our church all participated in a run. Most of us ran the 5k, with some doing the 10k and a few doing the 1 mile walk. 14 of us have had babies in the past year. What an accomplishment it was for all of us. I had a lot of fun doing it. My goal was to not walk the entire way and I made it!!! My time was 36 minutes. Not bad for my first time and for the hills that we had to go up!! I never knew that you get a ton of free stuff when you run in a 5k. I just might have to do this again next month. It was a fun thing to train for as well. A month ago I didn't think that I could make it, but sometimes I surprise myself. The announcers would announce anytime a "sole sister" would finish, it was kind of hard to miss us in the pink shirts.

Way to go! I always want to say I have done something grand like run a marathon (or a 10K or a 5K) but the reality is that I have no desire to run anything. Lindsey keeps telling me that if I get to the 1 mile mark, something will turn on and I'll love running... she doesn't get that I can hardly make it a block without feeling like my heart is going to burst right out of my chest. Despite that, I have much admiration and respect for people who are able to achieve such a feat--you inspire me!
