Alton, UT

This is the only town I've ever seen with WHOA signs in place of stop signs!  How Fun!  The girls really enjoyed their visit with Grandma Young in Alton.  Lyndee wishes we could move there.  We just told her when she grows up and finished school she can move there. This is the view from Grandpa Young's grave.  We can't believe that it's already been 9 1/2 years since he passed away.  You can see a portion of the "pinks" (Bryce Canyon) in the background.  So pretty and peaceful!
This is Grandma Young's house in the back ground.  And yes, we always walk in the middle of the street in Alton......even though this is main street!  Lyndee was told by her aunt Rynda that she could even lay in the road and that was ok!
I do have to tell a little about Alton for those of you who have never been there.  The post office (there are no mail boxes so you have to go there to pick up your mail) is located in a side of a ladies house.  It looks like an old fashioned post office that you would see in the movies from the 1800's or so.  Well, inside there is postings on the wall and I had to take a few minutes to read some of them.  One of them advertised milk and eggs for sale.  It said that you just needed to go inside (so and so's) garage and get the milk out of the large jug and pour it into your own jug, and get your eggs, then just leave your money in the door.  You don't see very many trusting communities like that anymore.  It is very relaxing to go there in the summer (winter is very cold and snowy).  Lyndee liked all the dogs and horses all around....and the zip line which I will post next!
When Lynar and Arlyn (his twin) were 16 years old, they built this house for their grandma Cummings. It is about 900 sq. feet and his brother Ryan and his wife Mindy and 5 boys are living there right now. She has decorated it so cute that you don't realize that it is only 900 sq. feet. Mindy is awesome! We had a lot of fun visiting with them in Alton.

It is so fun to read a native Ogenite describe our village. It does have a unique spirit about Alton. Maybe it is because of the things you noticed, Jen. You seem to make it more special when you bring our grand kids home. We love you all. BTW..... Being in Alton all started because of BYU. That is where Lynar's Dad romanced his Mom!

I love those stop signs. :) Alton reminds me of Glenwood (where I grew up) in a lot of ways.
